The case of the anti-corruption blogger Mehman Huseynov
Mehman Huseynov is an Azerbaijani anti-corruption blogger who uses his socials with the total of 193`000 subscribers to expose cases of corruption by the Azerbaijani officials. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison for defamation, with his sentencing came among constant attacks on media freedom in Azerbaijan. Prior to this, Azerbaijani authorities opened a criminal investigation against Mehman, cancelled his national identification card and passport, preventing him from both travelling abroad and participating in political life in his home country.
Mehman Huseynov’s family has also become the target of politically motivated persecution by the authorities.
